Boulder, Colorado prepares long-term strategy for dramatic rise in local solar generation

Among the aspirational climate-related goals Boulder has set for itself are targets of 50 megawatts of local renewable energy generation by 2020, and 100 megawatts by 2030.

The figure citywide currently stands at about 20 megawatts, which means Boulder’s got a lot of work to do if it intends to achieve those goals.

And if the city is going to hit or even approach the 2020 and 2030 marks, most, if not all, of the local generation will be of the solar variety, city officials say.
