The State of Montana unveils draft plan for student success

The state superintendent of public instruction on Wednesday introduced her department's draft plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act, a proposal that looks at long-term goals for schools, accountability and support.

Superintendent Elsie Arntzen said she would do as the government requested but would not cooperate beyond that.

"This is the Montana plan and we will follow the law, but anything else above that we will not harm schools or hamper schools or change schools because of what a federal mandate will be," she said.
