MarLo 5 Years On – The Journey Continues – Ideamensch

Five years ago today I left behind my career in Advertising to spend the next four months driving across the lower 48 trying to inspire more people to take actions on their ideas. Four of us, packed into my Honda Element with no idea what to expect in whatever town we drove into next. We talked big national brands into sponsoring us, sold thousands of tickets and perfected the art of integrating Popchips into every single meal.

We shared hotel beds, stayed on farms, racked up speeding tickets, killed a pig, swam on both coasts and drove just about every single day. We cried, we laughed, we celebrated our wins and somehow overcame even our biggest losses. Even though we didn’t know what we were doing, where we were going or what our paths might be when we got home, this just might have been the most important time of our lives.

Somehow it all worked out. I think it always does.

When we got home, I stepped on a plane, flew to Montana and ended up exactly where I was supposed to be.

One never knows exactly what the future will bring. So most of us try to not veer too far off our current journeys.

It’s uncertain. Uncomfortable. Scary. Terrifying. And the only way you ever get to grow beyond your wildest expectations.
Here is to the next terrifying journey.

To yours.

To mine.

To ours.

Take it.

I could thank a few hundred people in this post, but I’ll leave it to the ones who stepped inside the Element with me. Thank you Adam Unger, Collin Ferry, Will Seith and Derek Wyatt. I love you all.
