Technology as a Tool Program- WTC Announces Call for Proposals for Research and Technology Development Programs that Require Funding

WTC announces a new program to provide support for your industry-university collaborative project. Technology as a Tool was created for companies that don’t quite fit WTC’s RTD grant program criteria.

The Technology as a Tool Program will award up to $20,000 (no indirect costs taken out) to university faculty collaborating with a Washington company(s) for projects involving technology. The new program broadens WTC’s focus to include collaborations involving use or implementation of technology. We also aim to increase the number of departments, colleges, and companies that participate in WTC’s grant programs.

What we are looking for:

* Washington company

* Research partner at college or university or research institution in the state

* Technology

Elements of a pre-proposal:

* Potential Project Description—one paragraph description of proposed technology project identifying the outcome of the collaboration

* University Partner—one paragraph description of university contribution and qualifications

* Company Partner—one paragraph description of the company, why the project is important and an indication of company willingness to provide $2,000 cash matching

You are encouraged to contact WTC if you have an idea that might fit the program. We might be able to help find a partner in either industry or academia. The sooner we know about your idea, the more time we have to find the best partner for you. See hypothetical project ideas below.

Easy application process:

Submit a 1-page description that briefly outlines the company, university partner, potential project and commercial impact to [email protected] any time before October 16, 2003.

Selected proposals will be invited to submit a full proposal (3–5 pages). Full proposals are due November 10, 2003.
