Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte Calls for Civility After Being Convicted of Assault – Audio – Argues against mugshot or fingerprints for assault charge
Montana’s incoming congressman called for civility in politics on Friday, four days after his conviction for assaulting a reporter who asked him a question about health care.
Gianforte spoke to The Associated Press at his Bozeman home in his first national interview since winning the May 25 special congressional election. The Republican technology entrepreneur has largely stayed away from the public eye since assaulting Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs on the eve of the election until pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charge on Monday.

Gianforte argues against mugshot or fingerprints for assault charge
Gianforte and his legal team say he is not legally required to do either and filed a motion Friday afternoon to prevent the instruction.
The documents argue that Gianforte should not be required to follow the order because he was never arrested, was not charged with a felony and has his case was solely dealt with in Justice Court.
