Residents welcome new broadband lines near Dearborn, Montana

When Jim Ahrens noticed he had faster, more reliable internet service he didn’t conjure up a catchy history-making line that would shame telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell’s "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you."

Instead, the lobbyist who lives north of Craig in a home touching the Missouri River sent a note to the state’s Public Service Commission, thanking them and letting them know the new fiber optic internet was up and running.

Twelve years after Ahrens and some other residents along the Missouri River between Cascade and Craig approached providers about improving telephone service, fiber optic internet is trickling in, replacing a copper wire system.

Ahrens noticed his internet improve on June 2, his neighbors, the Misners learned about it the day before.
