Secretary of State Announces Online Certified Copies of business documents over the Internet.

Secretary of State Bob Brown announced today that Montanans can
now order certified copies of business documents over the Internet.

The new service can be found on the official state web site at [ http://www.DiscoveringMontana.com ] and on the Secretary of State’s web site at [ http://www.sos.state.mt.us ]. It allows users to instantly order and pay for
certified copies of certain corporation documents ranging from annual
reports to amendments and certificates of fact and existence.†

Brown estimated that his office produces and distributes about 30,000
certified copies a year. The documents are used to prove the existence and
status of a business for legal and financial purposes, such as during a
reorganization or merger or when a business seeks a loan.

"Our office has made it a priority to step boldly into the technology age
and offer more of our services online," Brown said. "This allows our
customers to come to us when it’s convenient for them, 24 hours a day, 7
days a week."

Customers of the new online service can pay for documents with a credit or
debit card and then download a receipt. The certified copies are delivered
to the customer by mail or Federal Express, or the customer may pick them
up at the Secretary of State’s Office at the state Capitol in Helena.

Customers who expect to use the service often can become registered users
of Discovering Montana and be billed monthly for all of the services
offered at the web site. For more information about becoming a registered
user of Discovering Montana call 866-449-3468.

The certified copies service is the result of an alliance between state
government and the private sector. It was cooperatively developed and is
supported by the Montana Secretary of State’s Office, the Montana
Department of Administration’s Information Technology Services Division,
and Montana Interactive, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment
provider NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV).
