CenturyLink complaints climb again amid fiber rollout
Luke Shaheen answered the door of his Northeast Portland home on New Year’s Eve to what sounded like a great offer: A salesperson from CenturyLink was offering superfast internet service and a landline phone for $55 a month — $10 less than what his family was paying to Comcast.
CenturyLink arrived to install the service 10 days later, and everything worked great ’til the bill came: It was $119.32, Shaheen said, more than double what he said CenturyLink had promised. Nearly two months later, he said, the bills are still coming — all higher than expected.
"I’d strongly suggest that potential customers get firm details of their offer in writing in person from a CenturyLink business office, with signatures of a supervisor, and direct phone and email contact information for that person," Reason said in an email. "A lot of the original problems from a year ago arose from the fact that lots of us didn’t have these terms in writing."
