Paul Tuss, executive director of Bear Paw Development Corp. talks economic development, infrastructure

Paul Tuss, executive director of Bear Paw Development Corp. and chair of the Montana University System Board of Regents, spoke to the Pachyderm Club Friday in Havre about the work Bear Paw does, local economic trends and infrastructure.

Bear Paw, the oldest federally recognized economic development district in Montana and one of the oldest in the nation, is based out of Havre and covers Blaine, Chouteau, Hill, Liberty, and Phillips counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy Indian Reservations.

Tuss, who has been executive director of Bear Paw since 2000, said the community development portion of the organization’s work includes helping find money through grant programs for infrastructure upgrades of water systems, bridges, community halls, walking trails and other projects.
