Photos from Montana’s small towns with population under 8,000

Somehow it seems that the smaller the town in Montana, the more character and characters it has. Example: I spent a hilarious late afternoon between thunderstorms in Saco last month helping a guitar player sing like Willie Nelson by pressing his right nostril shut.

I’ve also found some amazing food in these little spots — Loma if you’re looking for salsa, Big Sandy if you need a cookie.

Here are photos of a few of my favorite spots.

And I know that Billings is as far from a small town as you can find in Montana, and that the South Side isn’t a town at all. But it feels like one to me, and it’s the place I’ve lived the longest in my adult life, so please indulge me.

Great photos of the lifeblood of Montana: http://helenair.com/news/state-and-regional/under-photos-from-montana-s-small-towns/collection_4a197545-f51d-55b4-ab1b-44f05716965c.html
