Sticker shock: $144 million to build second high school and fix Bozeman High
Several teachers expressed shock Thursday after learning that the preliminary cost estimate for building Bozeman’s second high school and renovating the existing high school totals $144 million.
School Superintendent Rob Watson presented the architects’ and builders’ rough estimate Thursday to the committee of 40 teachers, administrators, parents, students and community members who have been working this fall on plans for the new and "renewed" high schools.
The total is twice the amount Gallatin County voters rejected in November for a new Law and Justice Center.
