Montana Small Business Development Centers Strengthen Economy, Create Jobs
The clients of the Montana Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) http://sbdc.mt.gov/ are by definition "small," but, with the support of SBDC services, they’re producing big economic impacts across the state.
According to a new report, every tax dollar invested through the Montana SBDC generates $1.72 in state and federal tax revenues. In addition, each dollar also leveraged $22 in public and private financing, resulting in $28.7 million in financing obtained by SBDC clients.
The report is produced with data from the Chrisman Survey and Neoserra client database. It covers a period from 2014-15, during which the Montana SBDC consulted and trained 2,150 entrepreneurs, created 61 new businesses, generated $57.2 million in sales by its clients, and created 475 new jobs.
SBDC Interim State Director Lori Gilliland said the report represents a great success both for individual entrepreneurs and for the state as a whole.
