Montana Career Opportunity – Senior Scientist – Adelos

The Senior Scientist will be expected to extend and improve the existing Adelos fiber optic sensor system capability by determining and managing appropriate experiments, testing, and design input for the manufacturing processes and product management teams. The Senior Scientist must demonstrate creativity and out-of-the box thinking in complex problem solving. This position requires a strong electrical engineering background and technical skills in optics, fiber, Rayleigh and other backscatter phenomena and materials sciences. The Senior Scientist will be expected to investigate computational methods to model the physics of acoustic impact on laser propagation and interactions with SMF and MMF-fiber optic cable types and associated coupling mechanisms to coated fiber, and will develop and write modeling and simulation tools for the interaction of fiber optics with encapsulating materials and surrounding media.
