Experts convene at broadband workshop in Missoula to discuss internet access issues

On Wednesday, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) https://www.ntia.doc.gov/ and the Montana Telecommunications Association http://www.telecomassn.org/ hosted a regional broadband workshop at the Hilton Garden Inn featuring a variety of experts and panels speaking about issues related to internet connectivity.

According to Angela Simpson, the deputy assistant secretary of the NTIA, the goal is to bring together elected officials, industry representatives, community leaders and other key stakeholders to share success stories and lessons learned. Throughout the afternoon, they focused on everything from how to bring advanced telecommunications infrastructure to rural communities to how to ensure that all Americans eventually get broadband access.

"While there’s definitely been progress in expanding broadband access in Montana and surrounding states, we realize there are still some who cannot access reliable broadband," she said. "So that’s why we’re here today. We want to come up with strategies and best practices about how to close the gaps in the digital economy."
