PSC stands firm in denying NorthWestern Energy rate increase for Colstrip outage

A resounding "no" came from the Montana Public Service Commission Tuesday, as the commission reaffirmed it’s decision last March to deny an $8.2 million rate increase for NorthWestern Energy.
The utility had sought PSC approval to charge its ratepayers for costs associated with an outage at Colstrip Unit 4 in 2013.
At issue, NorthWestern’s cost of purchasing electricity on the open market to serve its Montana customers during the Colstrip outage. The PSC denied the company’s request last March,but NorthWestern was asking the commission to reconsider its action.
