Precision Lift, http://www.precision.rotor.com the makers of Heli-Basket transport systems, agreed to undergo product testing by the U.S. Army. This is the first time that the U.S. Department of Defense has implemented this type of product testing.

Heli-Baskets are designed to hold loads such as machinery and medical supplies being transported by helicopters. The product’s aerodynamic design allows a smooth glide when the basket is loaded and empty.

The U.S. Army Natick Soldier-Center administered the flight and strength tests .

The certification approval comes just as Precision Lift is filling some of the first orders for its new Heli-Basket Fire Suppression Module.

Fire crews from Alaska and the Virgin Islands have ordered the equipment, which includes a 400-gallon water tank, a variety of hoses, tools and safety equipment. The tank can be refilled from streams or other water sources.

It’s also equipped with a fire engine-style pump for use away from water sources.

"The neat thing about this is that there are not always roads available to get equipment in to mop up forest fires," said Sandra Schwartz, general manager of Precision Lift.

"In the right circumstances, it’s like having a fire hydrant in the wilderness," Precision Lift President Chris Croff said.
