A woman recently traveled almost 9,000 miles — from the Gold Coast of Australia to Missoula so she could get something she couldn’t get anywhere else — her life back.

Two white bandages mark the spot where 38-year-old Tracey Kropp had the back surgery she says is changing her life. After years of chronic back pain and unsuccessful surgeries, this surfer from down under was about to give up.

"I actually thought there was no hope. I was going to have to live like this and I’ll die like this," Kropp said.
