Mergers, the new fad in utilities, comes to Wyoming
February 28, 2016 /
Mergers are very much in vogue among gas utilities these days. A nationwide tally by Bloomberg Business estimated some $50 billion in planned acquisitions were being reviewed nationwide by regulators in late 2015.
Wyoming is no different. Roughly 83 percent of all Cowboy State gas customers will be affected by two mergers. Black Hills Corp. recently completed a $1.8 billion takeover of SourceGas while Dominion Resources Inc. announced plans to acquire Salt Lake City-based Questar for $4.4 billion earlier this month.
