Montana Foods Promotion at Albertson’s Stores June 14

Food, fun and a celebration of Montana-made products,
including Montana dairy products, will all be part of a Montana’s Choice
event Saturday, June 14, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Albertson’s Food & Drug
Store, 2250 10th Avenue South in Great Falls.

In-store promotions and food samples to celebrate Montana food and dairy
products also are scheduled in Albertson’s stores at Glasgow, Hamilton,
Havre, Lewistown and Shelby. Other Albertson’s stores throughout the state
plan to highlight Montana products during the day.

The Great Falls event will feature Lieutenant Governor Karl Ohs opening the
promotion and hosting a Montana’s Choice Celebrity Shopping Spree. Spree
participants, including representatives from KMON Radio, Great Falls Tribune
and KRTV, will race through the store and find all of the Montana products
available. Products collected will be donated to the Great Falls Food Bank.

Montana food will be available for sampling throughout the day, including
mustard, sausages, bread, dessert sauces and cookies. The public is invited
to attend the entire event, listen to the Lieutenant Governor and sample
Montana products.

Montana dairy products will be highlighted in Albertson’s stores during the
promotions throughout the state.

"We have a long history of supporting Montana-made products, and we are
happy to be involved in this effort," says Chuck Cremer, eastern Montana
district manager for Albertson’s Food & Drug Stores. "It is important to our
customers that we carry Montana products, and we are in the business of
pleasing customers."

Given the choice, Montanans choose to support Montana products, says Ralph
Peck, director of the Montana Department of Agriculture. With the Montana’s
Choice program, consumers will now know where to find Montana food on their
local grocery stores’ shelves.

The Montana’s Choice program was developed by the Montana Department of
Agriculture to increase sales of the state’s agricultural products. To
accomplish this, the Montana’s Choice logo identifies Montana-made products
on grocery store shelves so that the state’s residents can incorporate
Montana foods into their everyday purchases.

In-store sampling and promotions are scheduled June 14 at these locations:

* Albertson’s Food & Drug, 620 1st Ave. N, Glasgow;

* Albertson’s Food & Drug, 1313 N 1st St., Hamilton;

* Albertson’s Food & Drug, 730 1st Ave., Havre;

* Albertson’s Food & Drug, 117 W Janeaux St., Lewistown; and

* Albertson’s Food & Drug, 130 5th Ave. N, Shelby.

More than 400 food companies in Montana produce everything from hot dogs,
fudge and spices to condiments, bottled beverages and pasta, says Angelyn
DeYoung, marketing specialist for the Montana Department of Agriculture.

Montana companies wishing to participate in the promotion are urged to
contact the department.
