Northwestern Energy grant, local donations help Missoula youth center install 72 solar panels

The grant came from Northwestern Energy’s Universal System Benefits program http://northwesternenergy.com/docs/default-source/documents/E-Programs/E-RenewableEnergy.pdf . The USB charge you see on your electric bill every month pays for universal system benefits program. According to a March 2015 report to the Legislature, Northwestern Energy electric customers paid more than $9.5 million in USB charges in 2014.
Donations from local businesses – Buffnetworks, Fister Electric, Western States Rental, Beaudette Consulting Engineers, Anderson’s Masonry and volunteers – brought the funding to more than $60,000.
