Ohio State University researchers are about to tackle one of the largest issues plaguing preschool education – fade-out.
In study after study, city after city, preschool has kids testing well ahead of peers entering kindergarten but having almost the same scores within a few years.
"You’re sending all these kids to beautiful, fancy preschools and they’re getting all these gains and then it fades out in grade one to three," said Jessica Logan, a senior researcher for Ohio State’s Crane Center for Early Childhood Research and Policy.
