Automotive Maintenance Training workshop for secondary Vocational teachers of Montana Available this Summer at UM COT, COT Helena, and MSU-N Havre

The Northwest Tech Prep Region is the sponsor a Teacher
Training workshop for secondary Vocational teachers of Montana
in the area of Automotive Maintenance during the summer of
2003.

There are three tracts available. A small engines
curriculum will be offered at the College of Technology, U of M
Missoula; an Automotive Maintenance curriculum will be offered
at the College of Technology, Helena; and a Diesel/Agriculture
curriculum will be offered at MSU-N in Havre.

These programs will
run concurrently from June 16 through July 3, 2003. Each
program will award 6 graduate credits to participating teachers.

Objective: Provide an economically feasible professional development
program for Montana Vocational Teachers which will enhance
small engine skills, teacher retention, and employment
opportunity.

Dates:
The small engines workshop will run from June 16th.
through July 3rd.

Course Length: Class will run from 7:30 a.m. to noon, and 1 p.m.
to 4:30 p.m. plus 8 evening hours.

Credits: (6)
Small Engine Principles 60 hours = 4 credits
Small Engine Performance Lab 60 hours = 2 credits
These classes will run concurrently

SMALL ENGINE PRINCIPLES: 4 credits

• Final Written Test (20%)
SMALL ENGINE PERFORMANCE LAB: 2 credits
• Lab Exercises (80%)
• Required 3-ring notebook (10%)
• Attendance (10%)

Students will receive the traditional letter grades A-F

Workbook, and Instructors Guide, American Technical
Publications, by Briggs & Stratton; various training manuals
from Tecumseh Products Co. and Kohler Co.
