UM President Royce Engstrom Reports from Recent Conference – "Designing a 21st Education for a Vibrant Democracy."

Last month, we held an extraordinary dialogue called "Designing a 21st Education for a Vibrant Democracy." The objective of the two-day conference was to have a discussion on campus to help direct our curriculum and educational delivery toward the most attractive and effective academic programming possible. Many people on campus followed the event, and I’d like to share some of the highlights with all of you.

For two days, nearly 300 faculty, staff, administrators, community members and students engaged in some of the biggest questions about postsecondary education today. What should a university education look like in the 21st century? How do we create engaged citizens? How do we build a competitive workforce? How do we engage our students on the global stage?
