Ravalli Co. plans for airport economic district come under fire

A proposal organizing a special district to promote business growth at the Ravalli County Airport comes under criticism, with some saying it would be better for the area to be annexed into the City of Hamilton.

County leaders are working out details for a new Targeted Economic Development District for the airport, and some surrounding lands, to open the way for a variety of business development in the years to come.

But at a hearing today reviewing the "voluntary zoning" to provide the "rules" for the new district, the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission heard from critics. Speakers said it was admirable for the county to be pursuing economic development, but annexing into the City of Hamilton for sewer service makes more sense.
