Missoula, Montana’s Neptune Aviation awarded four "Next Generation" Air Tanker Contracts by the U.S. Forest Service

The U.S. Forest Service announced that it has selected Neptune Aviation
http://www.neptuneaviation.com for a five-year contract for large firefighting airtankers. The Neptune Aviation aircraft being added to the exclusive use contract fleet are four British Aerospace BAe 146s.

"We appreciate the Forest Service recognition of Neptune Aviation’s hard work and solid results in developing the Next Generation of firefighting aircraft," said Neptune Aviation CEO Ron Hooper. "The contract award validates the dedication of the entire Neptune team of pilots, mechanics, engineers and support staff."

The Forest Service large air tanker modernization effort begin in 2011 when the Forest Service issued a contract solicitation for Next Generation Large Airtankers. Neptune’s modern large airtanker is a BAe 146 aircraft capable of carrying 3050 gallons of fire retardant while cruising at over 350 knots at altitudes of up to 25,000 feet.

Neptune Aviation has partnered with the Forest Service for more than 22 years to provide firefighting aircraft to combat wildland fires. "With the addition of the four aircraft under this new contract, Neptune Aviation will have a total of 11 aircraft under contract with the Forest Service," said Hooper.
The new Forest Service contract awards are for a five-year period with options for five additional years, with at least 160 days of mandatory availability every year.

"From a business standpoint, the contract award gives Neptune Aviation the stability we need to grow the other successful areas of our company – including our non-destructive testing, metal fabrication, aircraft services & flight school, charter operations, and the new flight service between Missoula & Billings," Hooper said.
