Micron, Intel boast a new way to store data

Micron Technology Inc. http://www.micron.com/ is on an innovation roll.

This spring, Micron and semiconductor giant Intel Corp. jointly announced production of 3D NAND, a memory product that holds more data by building layers upward instead of simply outward. This summer, they are taking an even bigger step, announcing a new way of holding and moving data. The new storage chips will combine some of the best features of Micron’s two primary types of memory — NAND flash and dynamic random-access memory, or DRAM — into a new kind of memory.
