Glacier National Park celebrates 100 millionth visitors

One California family was in for a surprise when they visited Glacier National Park http://www.nps.gov/glac/index.htm on Thursday morning.

"We had no idea," said Bakersfield resident Becky Janssen. "We had heard that they had opened the (Going-to-the-Sun) road today, and so we thought, let’s head up there and see what happens."

Janssen and her children, 14-year-old Pierce and 10-year-old Gretchen, are spending the summer in Whitefish. They thought they’d explore the park, now that west-side traffic can access Logan Pass.

When park Superintendent Jeff Mow approached Janssen’s car at the park’s West Entrance, Janssen was confused.

"I thought I was in trouble," she said.
