NorthWestern Energy Files to Decrease Electricity Supply Rates in Montana

NorthWestern Energy http://www.northwesternenergy.com has filed its annual electricity supply cost tracker with the Montana Public Service Commission and it is projecting lower rates for customers beginning in July.

The company anticipates the overall price of electricity over the next year combined with truing up the actual costs incurred during the previous year will be lower. In addition, another rate component related to a previous regulatory decision regarding the treatment of qualifying facilities (CTC-QF) will also decrease beginning next month. The combined result of these adjustments is a projected decrease of about $3.10 per month for an average residential customer or about 3.44-percent.

NorthWestern Energy owns most of its electricity supply resources with more than half of the generation in Montana fueled by wind and water and rates based on the cost of generation.
