Jim Smitham Announces Retirement

The Butte Local Development Corporation (BLDC) is seeking a new Executive
Director after the announcement that Jim Smitham, the organization’s current Executive Director, will retire after
serving the organization since 2002. Mr. Smitham was hired as the BLDC’s Executive Director in March 2005 after
serving for three years as the BLDC’s Marketing Director. Prior to his roles at BLDC, he was employed with the
Montana Power Company for 26 years where he held various engineering and administrative positions.

According to Jim Bennett, President of the BLDC Board of Directors, "Jim Smitham has played a vital role in
advancing the BLDC over the past 13 years. We appreciate everything that Jim has done to help support the
economic vitality of Butte, and we wish him well in his well‐deserved retirement."

The BLDC will begin advertising the Executive Director position and hopes to have a new Executive Director
selected by mid‐Summer. A committee to manage the search has been formed and is comprised of BLDC board
members, a representative of Butte‐Silver Bow local government, and a Butte citizen representative.
Interested candidates are asked to submit a cover letter and resume along with four references to

25th, 2015.
