Historically low snowpacks have hydrologists worried

California officials are encouraging Los Angeles residents to rip out their lawns and replace them with desert plants. Aerial photos of Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park appear brown, showing dry plains on the high mountain passes usually covered with snow. Many of Nevada’s reservoirs are now at less than 20 percent of their typical spring storage capacities.
