Montana ranked 7th best state for local foods
April 17, 2015 /
Montana is a great place for consumers looking for healthy, locally grown and produced foods. That’s according to a recently released index produced by the nonprofit organization "Strolling of the Heifers."
The Vermont-based advocacy group ranked Montana as the seventh best state in its commitment to local foods, based upon the number of farmers markets, community supported agriculture operations, farm-to-school program participation, cooperatively owned food hubs and the per capita value of direct-to-the-public food sales by farmers to Montana consumers.
