Montana’s famed Smith River is under threat. You can help.

Tintina Resources, a small Canadian exploration company, is proposing to establish a massive copper mine on Sheep Creek, 15 miles north of White Sulphur Springs, and at the headwaters of the Smith River http://stateparks.mt.gov/smith-river/ .

Montana has a long and unfortunate history with hard-rock mining projects that pollute our rivers and streams and leave a legacy of pollution. The proposed mine would be constructed in a region with a high quantity of sulfide minerals, which has the high potential of producing acid mine drainage. The Smith River is not a place where we should consider another risky mining project. Montanans are not going to stand idly by and allow the Smith River to be the subject of another experiment by the mining industry.
