Missoula team’s wood waste project wins $25,000 award in the second Barrett Foundation Business Concept Challenge.

About one quarter of all the wood cut on a logging project gets left in the woods. Stephen Jenkins thinks he has a way to make money off those leftovers.
The idea that he and Jena Trejo came up with was good enough to win $25,000 as runner-up in the second Barrett Foundation Business Concept Challenge http://www.nationalforests.org/conserve/grantprograms/barrett-prize . And the waste product of their innovation was the contest’s $75,000 first-place project.
