Montana Governor Steve Bullock’s State of State: A Montana where we help others, while we succeed

Gov. Steve Bullock, in his second State of the State address, said Montana is prospering overall – but called on the 2015 Legislature on Wednesday night to use the tools of government to help fellow citizens who are struggling.

From expanding health coverage to 70,000 low-income Montanans to a $400 million infrastructure plan he said will create 4,000 jobs, the first-term Democrat urged the GOP-controlled Legislature to overlook partisanship and adopt his wide-ranging agenda.

GOP senator blasts Bullock public works plan as too much, too late

A Republican Senate leader on Wednesday night called Gov. Steve Bullock a Johnny-come-lately when it comes to investing in Montana’s infrastructure.

Senate President Pro Tempore Eric Moore of Miles City accused the Democratic governor of proposing a bloated, pork-barrel infrastructure spending plan that would double the state’s debt.

In the Republican response to Bullock’s State of the State address, Moore outlined his party’s goals for the session and contrasted them with what the governor wants.
