Economic report shows "two Montanas" in state’s rural counties

While places like Bozeman, Missoula and Billings are tapping into the so-called "knowledge" industries, so far that hasn’t happened in Montana’s small towns.

While Montana’s economic "big picture" continues to have its strong points, the latest 2015 Outlook report from the UM Bureau of Business and Economic Research http://www.bber.umt.edu/ shows continued challenges when it comes to business in the state’s rural counties.

And most of those economic "soft spots" are west of the Divide.

The new report reflects what most everyone is seeing across the state, the Bakken oil boom means big business with a ripple effect.
