Republicans ‘softening’ on proposed Montana House rules, Democrat says

Several proposed rules causing a rift in the Montana House may be changed or abandoned, including one giving the House speaker more power to redirect bills to a committee where the bill is more easily killed, lawmakers said Monday.
House Minority Leader Chuck Hunter, D-Helena, said the Republican leadership appears to be "softening their stance on some of the rules," and that it’s possible some proposals will be changed this week.
