Rural leaders need to make education demands clear to Washington

When it comes to education policy and rural states like Idaho, the federal government is more a purveyor of ugly sweaters than a deft Santa Claus. Washington’s approach to rural schools is often ill-fitting and misaligned to what rural school leaders want.

Challenges facing rural schools and the outcomes today should compel rural leaders to demand better from Washington – and both the Insiders and the superintendents think Washington is not doing enough.
