Where art meets science: 3D printer at Capital High keeps students on cutting edge of technology

Sitting in a room behind Capital High, the 3D printer was busy turning coils of ABS plastic — the same material used to make Lego bricks — into miniature busts of students.
Its nozzles squeezed melted plastic in layer after layer, building the busts from the base up. It was a process that took two or three hours and was complete with scaffolding for support while the bust dried.
