With the addition of Medina County, OH this week, Next Century Cities proudly shares that our membership has risen to 50 communities, representing 25 states from across the country. Each of our cities joins us in our mission to ensure that all have access to fast, affordable, and reliable broadband Internet. These communities represent large cities, counties, and rural towns alike, each undertaking a unique approach to reach its broadband goals.

Community Connectivity Toolkit Launched

If your community is hungry for better connectivity, you may be interested in starting a community network initiative. Getting started can be a daunting task so we developed the Community Connectivity Toolkit http://communitynets.org/content/community-connectivity-toolkit .

The Toolkit includes broad suggestions for steps you should take as you investigate solutions for your community. We also include resources to help you educate yourself through case studies, fact sheets, and other media. We touch on common stumbling blocks and ways to counter them. The toolkit suggests policies that will prepare your community for better connectivity.

The Community Connectivity Toolkit helps you ask the right questions and gives you a starting point where you can find information to learn, share, and prepare. If you have suggestions for how to improve the toolkit or questions that you want answered that are not in it, please let us know.
