Bechtel Corp. plans to give Buck Knives $100,000 in Post Falls, ID

"We are spending a relatively small amount of money to help bring 225 jobs to Idaho that will mean millions of dollars in economic benefit for northern Idaho over the next several years," said Lyman Frost, Bechtel’s director of economic development at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory.

Bechtel manages Idaho Nuclear Engineering and Environmental Laboratory near Idaho Falls for the U.S. Department of Energy. As part of its DOE contract, Bechtel spends about $1.4 million annually on economic development in Idaho.

Buck Knives, a 101-year-old company, produces 90 different models of sport and utility knives. The company anticipates sales of more than $30 million this year.

Thursday’s ceremony takes place at 10 a.m. at the Riverbend Commerce Park, at the northeast corner of Lochsa Street and St. Joe Avenue.

Buck Knives plans to open a new, 110,000-square-foot building in the Riverbend Commerce Park in early 2004.
