Television may offer hundreds of channels and the Internet millions of videos, but America still needs public television, the head of Public Broadcasting Service said Tuesday in Bozeman.
Paula Kerger, CEO and president of PBS since 2006, said viewers have many choices, and dramas on commercial television and are enjoying a "golden age."
But commercial TV also carries a lot of reality shows — even on channels like the History Channel that sound like they’d be educational.
"’Ice Road Truckers,’" Kerger said, "is not Ken Burns."
