Mountain Line opens solar-powered bus stop thanks to Missoula high school students

If you wait at the bus stop at 39th and Reserve streets, you’re in for a new experience called the "Green Stop."

On Tuesday, four high school students with the i3 Group innovation program of Missoula County Public Schools cut the ribbon on a brand new Mountain Line bus shelter with solar power, an artistic wall of roughly 300 colored glass bottles, and cover from rain, snow and sun. Eventually, riders also will be able to use charging stations there for their cell phones.

"We wanted to promote clean energy and give riders a bit of an interactive experience while they wait for the bus," said Keilan Sayer, an i3 Group member.
