Closure of controversial federal bank would impact Bozeman businesses

West Paw Design https://www.westpawdesign.com/ didn’t start exporting its pet products in earnest until 2011.

That year its overseas sales reached a point where the company would be at risk if political or economic turmoil kept international distributors from paying West Paw for goods. So West Paw began working with the Export-Import Bank of the United States to insure the sales.

In the four years since, the company has grown from 40 employees to 70. Sales from exports account for nearly 20 percent of the company’s revenue, or about 14 of those jobs, said Spencer Williams, president and CEO.
