Parking solutions in Helena, Montana

HPC, downtown businesses collaborate on ways to end contention over time-limit parking spaces

The one-hour limit on parking spaces in the 300 and 400 blocks of downtown Helena has been a source of contention between the Helena Parking Commission and business owners. Now, however, Randy Riley, the chairman of the board of trustees for the Helena Parking Commission, says the commission and the downtown shops have reached an understanding.

Riley said the parking commission and business owners met early last week to walk around downtown so they could understand the true parking layout and discuss solutions.

"The consensus of the entire group, by and large, is that this really isn’t an inventory problem, but it is an education and an incentive issue to get folks into the shops that are most suited for their shopping needs and their parking needs," Riley said.
