Bozeman picks vendor for broadband planning

Selecting a private company to partner with on the planning process is the first step toward potentially installing a citywide fiber-optic loop that would provide high-speed Internet access to businesses and residents.

The fiber-optic initiative, which began about a year ago, complements the city’s goal of encouraging economic diversity and job creation, said Brit Fontenot, director of economic development.

"We feel like connectivity and high-speed connectivity is a critical infrastructure piece for businesses that are here now, that are growing here now and that may choose to come here in the future," he said.
