Host families sought for 23 students coming for international workshop at MSU

Families in the Bozeman community are being sought to host international students attending an upcoming workshop to prepare and motivate them to become stronger leaders in their communities and nations.

Twenty-three students from around the globe will arrive Sunday, April 20, to attend an intensive week-long ACCESS 10th Anniversary Celebration Workshop in Bozeman.

Organizers are looking for local families that can host the students from April 20 through 27. Host families will receive $22.50 per student per day. They are asked to supply breakfast and dinners and give students rides to and from MSU. Workshop organizers will take the students to and from the airport. Host families will meet their students April 20 at a banquet at the Holiday Inn in Bozeman.

Students attending the workshop are from Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, El Salvador, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mauritania, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Myanmar, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Rwanda, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uruguay and Yemen.

The workshop is one of two in the United States funded by the U.S. State Department. Among other things, the visiting students will learn leadership and conflict resolution skills, understand their role as agents of change, learn about the importance of volunteerism and civic engagement in the United States, build cross-cultural relationships, develop proficiency in social media, and more.

The Bozeman workshop is being organized by WorldMontana with the help of the Training and Special Programs Division in Montana State University’s Office of International Programs.
