Grants to reduce the high school dropout rate presented by the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation for Graduation Matters

Juneau thanked Mike Halligan, executive director of the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, for $450,000 in contributions to Graduation Matters over the past three years.

Before the program started in 2009, more than 2,000 students dropped out of school each year. Around 1,500 kids dropped out in 2013; 770 fewer than four years ago.

Juneau noted that Montana high school graduates will earn an estimated $68.2 million more than their counterparts who drop out of school.
