Sunburst students national finalists in Samsung science competition

A little hypothesis is leading to some big things for students, their school and the small community of Sunburst. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunburst,_Montana

A team consisting of Kim Bloch and the middle school students in her gifted and talented group is now one of 15 finalists in the national Samsung "Solve for Tomorrow" "Solve for Tomorrow" contest based on the research it conducted to solve the community’s problem with the alkali flats.

Team members leave next week for Austin, Texas, to present their research to a panel of judges and for the chance to earn their school more than $125,000 in upgraded technology. It will be a combination of the panel of judges and online voting from the public that will determine whether the school gets the grant. Bloch said they face an uphill battle being from a small, rural community.
