Stem cells programmed to grow cartilage inside body

Scientists have used gene therapy to direct stem cells to grow new cartilage inside a living body.
While this study focuses on cartilage regeneration, Guilak and Gersbach say that the technique could be applied to many kinds of tissues, especially orthopedic tissues such as tendons, ligaments and bones.
