Southern Idaho group may develop co-operative meat-processing plant
November 28, 2013 /
Oxarango-Ingram said creating a local meat-producers’ co-op may provide a more level playing field for small producers. An effort to create such a co-op is drawing interest.
She is working with the Small Business Development Center in Twin Falls and the startup company Economic and Natural Resource LLC to pitch the idea of a co-op to small-scale producers.
Several weeks ago, the group met with a dozen meat producers in Shoshone. She said the meeting went so well the group of co-op proponents plan to take its presentation on the road for the next few months.
